The early returns on the David Price Trade have been very positive, as Daniel Norris pitched a gem on Sunday against the Baltimore Orioles. Norris went 7 1/3 innings, gave up one run on a Chris Davis solo home run, struck out five and walked only one. Norris was taken out after throwing only 84 pitches and could have potentially gone the distance, though Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said he wanted to preserve Norris’ solid outing and not risk him getting in trouble after giving up a single in the eighth.

Norris was spotted a three run lead in the first inning courtesy of a J.D. Martinez home run and looked very comfortable throughout the outing. He struck out two in the first inning with rising fastballs and showed excellent command with all of his pitches.

Not only did he factor into the game with his arm, his glove also contributed as he made a great, full-extended diving catch on a pop-up bunt attempt in the second. Norris has been described as a “bull dog” on the mound and his intensity was on display on this play. The Orioles went from trying to move two runners into scoring position to ending the inning on a double play ball the next batter. Check out the video of Norris’ catch below.
